It started with a spreadsheet.
Not the kind built to impress investors.
The kind you open late at night, blink against the screen glow, and stare at in silence - with a hollow ache in the pit of your stomach.
Names. Emails. Real people who once showed interest.
But now - pfft - gone. No second chance.
We’d invested everything in building that list. Time, energy, money.
But in the whirlwind of doing business, we didn’t have the capacity to keep those conversations alive by following up well enough, fast enough, or personally enough (it wasn’t because we didn’t care).
And the weight of that realisation - knowing that we’d let good leads fade simply because we were stretched too thin - stings like a Japanese giant hornet bite on our buts (we ‘met’ one in Tokyo in 2019, so we know what they’re like).
It still does.
We’re not typical tech founders. One of us spent years as a Chartered Accountant, immersed in regulation and financial systems. The other built enterprise-grade software databases - the kind most developers run a mile from.
We lived the corporate life until it felt like being shrink-wrapped in office politics - dressed in suits, ideas boxed in, purpose traded for performance reviews. We weren’t building anything that mattered. We just clocked time in fluorescent cubicles.
So we walked away. And built something that felt more human.
Something of our own.
We launched and scaled an online business. Mentored over 2,000 entrepreneurs. Wrote a book that reached thousands.
Ran campaigns.
Paid for leads.
Celebrated the customers.
